Parth Gusani is a CERT 5 freelance graphic art designer with a big ambition to develop his own start-up company.
Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you get into freelancing?
Hi! My name is Parth Gusani. I am a full time freelancer on PPH and specialise in 3D graphic art design. I have a degree in animation and design.
I started freelancing about a year ago. I was very bored with my regular ’10-7 job’ and needed a change PPH gave me the opportunity to change my career path without leaving my house!
What was your previous job before deciding to go freelance?
I used to work as a full-time cinematic artist developing in-game, cinematic, visuals for different games and platforms. I had some awesome experience in my previous jobs and I helped develop and design games around the world.
How did you come across PPH?
I did a Google search for freelancer sites and PPH was the one that really stood out.
What was your first job like on PPH?
My first job on PPH was a very interesting one. It lasted a week with a great client who was very appreciative of my work. The work was a simple environment design. Luckily I didn’t have to bid, a buyer approached me as he saw my profile on PPH. I gave him a unique service befitting his requirements and he was very pleased with the work and gave me a great review.
What is a typical day like for you?
I class myself as being a late riser! I start my day around 12 and work up until 7. I do have to work through the night sometimes to manage the time zone and any specific client demands.
How does freelancing compare to a 9-5?
It is amazing, it is out of this world! I feel so free.
What benefits have you found by using PPH?
The best part of PPH is that there is a wide range of projects that are available in the 3D design industry. I also love the Hourlies, definitely!
What does your future hold? Where would you like to take this?
In the future as my client base grows and as my portfolio develops, I would like to expand my business so I can set up a full new start-up company with other 2D/3D designers.
What are your top 5 tips for freelancers who are new to PPH?
1 – Be patient. You can wait for the first client, they will come along eventually.
2 – Charge what you think you deserve, never undersell yourself.
3 – Be honest to your clients so they know what to expect from you and your product.
4 – Try to have good communication with your client.
5 – Don’t do it just for money, do it because you enjoy it! Otherwise you will end up hating your job, and that may be why you got into freelancing in the first place.
What web browser do you use?
If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?
I would be a dog – because they are adorable.
