What prompted you to start Freelancing?
As I explain at the start of my review, I hated my job and was desperate to find something more fulfilling so I looked into the ways that I could make my hobby, which was creative writing, work for me. Although I’d always written short stories, I’ve actually found that I get most work writing articles and blogs.
What do you enjoy most about Freelancing?
I love the freedom it gives me. If I want to have a day off or a lazy morning then I can and I simply make up the time at my convenience. Clients don’t need to know if my best time for writing is at four in the morning or whether I keep standard office hours as long as the work gets done. That means that I can work around my family and other commitments. The other thing I love is the actual job. I’ve wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember and I’m finally doing it!
Are you a full time or part time Freelancer?
I’m full time and then some! What started out as thirty hours a week has slowly crept up and I put in 60(ish) last week.
Do you teach/train or tutor?
Not currently: I’m still learning on the job so I’d like a lot more experience before I’d talk to someone else about it.
What job/project have you enjoyed the most and why?
I wrote the website for a friend of mine who is a wedding photographer and as I know her, and her work, it was lovely to get that across. I also wrote some articles recently on the PIP breast implants scandal and found it absolutely fascinating, but also terrifying for those people affected.
Tell us about the most recent job you won…
I’m writing and editing a series of blogs for an upcoming website with a very interesting concept. Very intriguing!
If you had to fast forward your day what would it look like?
I get up and sort out my son, get him off to nursery and start as soon as I can. I run my business through Facebook and Twitter as well as PPH so I check both of those and the emails. After that, I just work through the days tasks. I tend to research better in the morning and write better in the afternoon so where possible I stick to that. can’t work without the radio on so there’s always music on and I try to have at least half an hour away from my desk for a lunch break too. I stop work at about five or six and turn back into a housewife and mum until 9. Then it’s either bed, relaxing or more work, depending on the particular week and any deadlines.
