If you are involved at all in marketing, you have probably heard that social media is a great way to market your business and increase sales. When you think of marketing on social media, you probably think of reaching your audience mostly on popular sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. If you’ve heard of LinkedIn, you probably think of it mainly as a means of connecting and networking with people, and that is one thing it is very good for. But you probably don’t realise you can put LinkedIn to use to also increase your sales.
How can that be done? Let’s look at a few ways.
1. Call To Action
In your headline, be specific about what you do and who you have helped and how. Explain the benefits you can provide. Don’t just list your name and title. In the summary section, put in your call to action. Tell them to call you or email you, or visit your site and sign up for a newsletter. Be sure to collect personal information to keep in contact.
Connect with as many people as you can. Expand from just family, friends, and schoolmates. Your first-degree connections will often provide second and third-degree connections you can reach out to. Take advantage of it to grow your network and leads.
3. Generate leads
There are many ways to generate leads on LinkedIn. You do things such as read company profiles and study individual profiles, join and participate in Groups, and keep tabs on your profile’s analytics. Knowing what’s going on in prospect companies can help you find opportunities to reach out to them and offer your help.
Put yourself out on LinkedIn as an influencer. Share content with their Influencers program that will make you look like an expert and an industry leader in your field. If people think of you as an influencer or expert, they will be more likely to give you their business.
5. Non-influencer marketing
If you don’t go the Influencer route, you can still use LinkedIn to market and increase sales in other ways. Make use of SEO tactics so your profiles (individual and company) will be more visible. Join groups to increase your exposure to sales and marketing professionals and targeted industries, or start your own industry-specific group. Also, take advantage of LinkedIn’s targeted ad products.
6. Search and alert
Use “advanced search” to search for targeted decision makers and companies, then see which connections you have in common and reach out to that contact to connect you with your prospect. Use “search companies” in the same way. Alerts are saved searches and you can use it to alert you to things such as when potential customers join LinkedIn or when someone becomes a member of your targeted group after changing positions.
7. Look back
You’ve probably seen notices that someone has viewed your profile. But did you realise you can look back at them and see who looked at you? This gives you a good chance to make a new connection and possible lead for sales.
